Akshaye Khanna, a talented actor known for his roles in iconic films like “Dil Chahta Hai” and “Border”, made his debut in 1997 with the movie “Himalay Putra”. However, it was “Dil Chahta Hai” that truly catapulted him into the limelight.
In 1999, Akshaye collaborated with veteran actor and director Rishi Kapoor for the film “Aa Ab Laut Chalein”. The movie featured a stellar cast, including Rajesh Khanna and Aishwarya Rai. Despite their creative partnership, there were occasional tensions.
During an interview on “Rendezvous with Simi Garewal”, Simi asked Akshaye about the pressures faced by young actors in the industry. It was during this conversation that Rishi Kapoor’s candid comment came up. Kapoor had once remarked that Akshaye was a gifted actor but had a serious attitude problem. Akshaye playfully responded, “So does he (laughs).” He acknowledged that Rishi Kapoor also had his moments but emphasized that the Kapoors were wonderful people overall.
Over time, their differences were smoothed out, and in a 2017 interview, Akshaye praised Rishi Kapoor’s performances in films like “Kapoor & Sons” and “Agneepath”.
Tragically, Rishi Kapoor passed away in 2020 after battling cancer. “Aa Ab Laut Chalein” remains a significant film as it was the last production under the banner of RK Films, founded by the legendary Raj Kapoor in 1948.
Despite any initial disagreements, it’s heartening to know that they found common ground and respected each other’s talents in the end.
Akshaye Khanna, despite his relatively private life, has been embroiled in a few controversies.
Despite these controversies, Akshaye Khanna has maintained a relatively low profile and continues to focus on his work in the film industry.
