The 96th Academy Awards (Oscar 2024 Awards) , organized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), happened on March 10, 2024, at the famous Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The event was filled with powerful performances and celebrated winners.
As celebrities began to grace the red carpet with their presence, a multitude of pro-Palestinian demonstrators, fueled by their discontent over the Israel-Gaza conflict, made their voices heard and disrupted traffic flow in the surrounding blocks of the Theatre in Hollywood.
At the Oscar 2024, wrestler-turned-actor John Cena added a new chapter to the annals of Oscar surprises when he boldly strode onto the stage to present the Best Costume Award in his birthday suit. Host Jimmy Kimmel’s playful banter and Cena’s initial reluctance only heightened the anticipation before Cena finally embraced the unconventional moment, leaving the audience in stitches and the internet abuzz.
The Oscars 2024 ceremony took an unexpected twist when John Cena made a bold entrance onto the stage completely nude, tasked with presenting the Best Costume Award. Christopher Nolan won the Best Director award for his work on “Oppenheimer.
Cillian Murphy earned the Best Actor award for his portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer in “Oppenheimer.”
Emma Stone clinched the Best Actress award for her role as Bella Baxter in “Poor Things.”
Robert Downey Jr. secured the Supporting Actor award for his portrayal of Lewis Strauss in “Oppenheimer.”
Da’Vine Joy Randolph received the Supporting Actress award for her performance as Mary Lamb in “The Holdovers.”
Justine Triet and Arthur Harari won the award for Original Screenplay for ‘Anatomy of a Fall’
Cord Jefferson took home the Adapted Screenplay award for ‘American Fiction,’ which is based on the novel ‘Erasure’ by Percival Everett.
“The Boy and the Heron,” directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Toshio Suzuki, won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
“The Zone of Interest,” directed by Jonathan Glazer, won the Oscar for Best International Feature Film, representing the United Kingdom.
The Oscar for Best Documentary Feature Film was awarded to “20 Days in Mariupol,” directed by Mstyslav Chernov and produced by Michelle Mizner and Raney Aronson-Rath.
“The Last Repair Shop,” directed by Ben Proudfoot and produced by Kris Bowers, won the Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film.
“The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar,” directed by Wes Anderson and produced by Steven Rales, won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film.
“War Is Over! Inspired by the Music of John and Yoko,” directed by Dave Mullins and produced by Brad Booker, won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film.
The Oscar for Best Original Song was awarded to “What Was I Made For?” from the film “Barbie,” featuring music and lyrics by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.
The Oscar for Best Sound went to “The Zone of Interest,” with Tarn Willers and Johnnie Burn recognized for their outstanding work in this category.
“Poor Things” earned the Oscar for Best Production Design, with James Price and Shona Heath honored for their exceptional production design, alongside Zsuzsa Mihalek for set decoration.
Hoyte van Hoytema received the Oscar for Best Cinematography for his exceptional work on “Oppenheimer.”
The Oscar for Makeup and Hairstyling was awarded to “Poor Things,” with Nadia Stacey, Mark Coulier, and Josh Weston recognized for their outstanding work in this category.
“Poor Things” received the Oscar for Best Costume Design, with Holly Waddington honored for her exceptional costume work in the film.
Jennifer Lame won the Oscar for Best Film Editing for her outstanding work on “Oppenheimer.”
The Oscar for Best Visual Effects went to “Godzilla Minus One,” with Takashi Yamazaki, Kiyoko Shibuya, Masaki Takahashi, and Tatsuji Nojima recognized for their exceptional contributions in this category
