The North East Games (NEOG) is a special sports event held in Northeast India. It brings together athletes from the eight states of the region.
The NEOG started to encourage sportsmanship, togetherness, and doing your best in sports for the northeastern states. It gives athletes a chance to show how good they are and compete with others in the area.
There have been two NEOG events before this one. Manipur won both times, showing they are really good at sports.
The NEOG in 2022 was supposed to happen in Arunachal Pradesh, but it got delayed because of COVID-19. It was also meant to celebrate Meghalaya being a state for 50 years.
Right now, the third North East Games 2024 is happening in Nagaland. Over 3,000 athletes from the eight northeastern states are taking part in 15 different sports. The games are in 12 places across three districts: Chümoukedima, Dimapur, and Kohima. They started on March 19 and will end on March 23 with a closing event at the Games Village.
The NEOG helps bring people together, shows off talent, and makes sports better in this lively area. 🏅🌟
